Smith + Tracey contribution to the Brighton East home was a beautiful example of how to preserved and retain the rich heritage building in the Bayside area. The ‘bones’ of the building were solid and the original features ornate, awaiting to be revitalized, Smith + Tracey along with MDC Interior Concepts set to restore and bring back to life the history and majesty of the building.
The project involved a complete reimagining what an aged care residence could be. The welcome experience at arrival, the lifestyle opportunities for residents and family with a clear understanding of how public, semi public and private spaces seamlessly integrate throughout this multi-storey residence.
The existing aged care building comprises the two storey 1882 Mansion with a 1980’s three storey 120 bed extension. The focus, arrival and front of house to the residence was via Heathfield Road driveway into the extension. The historical mansion was undeveloped and basically formed a back-of-house aspect to the site.
The works undertaken have respectfully renewed the and enhanced the aesthetic of the mansion and repurposed its main rooms of to ensure the philosophical aspirations of Allity’s aged care lifestyle offering was achieved. Relationship of Built Form to Context.
The residents and staff of Princeton View are greatly appreciative of the efforts given to this project, with a result that is both effective in respect of the operational requirements, and delightful to those who call it their home.
Located in Brighton East, the National Heritage listed mansion combines the beautiful architecture and interiors of the old, with the stunning building lines of the new.
