Millennium House, Seddon

The Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) engaged Smith + Tracey to develop the concept to establish their new community hub ‘Millennium House’ in Seddon; enabling the relocation and consolidation of their various community care and support services and provide a place to gather and celebrate the history of the local Polish community.

The existing 1960’s two storey brick hall building has been fully refurbished and transformed to a 21st century workplace, including new assessable entry, commercial kitchen, offices, an events space and historical displays to create a vibrant community hub in support of people from multicultural backgrounds including seniors, newly arrived migrants, refugees, women, young people and children. Situated adjacent the Mappin Reserve parklands, a new café space and outdoor terrace provides additional community activation to the street.

The new refurbishments at the Millennium House has facilitated the multicultural community hub to expand their service offering and assist the community needs;

– 30000 + People using the space annually
– 45 + Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities represented
– 5 Community spaces available for public use
– 1000 Square metres of community spaces
– 365 Days open per year
– 170 Capacity at any given time

We are very pleased with the outcome and proud to be entrusted by AMCS to design such a meaningful project.
